April the first 2016 and Andrew was going to accompany John on the delivery flight of G-EJBI from Lydd to Tibenham. Now Andrew has about 60 hours total time and has just finished a tailwheel course at Clacton with Jo Macdonald, John is going to be having his last flight in his beloved plane.
I was there at Lydd to witness the flat battery hand swing start to this and then drove to Norfolk to meet up with Andrew. He was there, the plane was there, John had taken the train back to Kent and Andrew was now a little more familiar with the plane and the Dover Cliffs from a very scenic angle.
Not the most thorough of conversion courses but we had the flight manuals with all the good info and a cautious approach, time to learn about the Bölkow 207.
